Where To Start Consulting is pleased to introduce Strengths, Skills & Beyond, a workshop series co-developed and co-facilitated by Donna Sheppard and Kim White.

Through our combined professional and lived experience, we have seen that moving forward often starts with a pause. A pause gives people time to notice what they already bring, reconnect with themselves, and explore what may come next.

Our approach is warm, conversational, inclusive and practical. The workshops are designed to complement the work organizations, programs and community groups are already providing.

Meet The Facilitators

Donna brings approximately 20 years of experience in community-based support, employment counselling, advocacy, peer support and group facilitation.

Her approach is grounded in creating safe, practical and conversational spaces where people can reflect on where they are, recognize the strengths and experience they already carry, and identify realistic next steps that fit their own circumstances.

The Core Workshop Series

Self-Reflection: A Core Skill — 1.5 hours

Participants explore where they are, what has shaped them, and what matters now.

The Strengths, Skills & Beyond series supports this journey through three 1.5-hour workshops.

Organizations can book the complete series or individual workshops.

Strengths & Skills Profile — 1.5 hours

Participants identify strengths, skills, and life experience they may not see in themselves.

Where To Start Roadmap — 1.5 hours

Participants use what they have learned to explore a direction and practical next steps.

Together, the workshops guide participants through… Reflection. Discovery. Direction.

We also offer two additional 1.5-hour workshops. They can follow the core series or be offered on their own.

Pocket Full of Joy — 1.5 hours

Participants notice and reconnect with the small things that bring joy, meaning, and lightness to daily life.

Additional Workshops

Growing with Gratitude — 1.5 hours

Participants explore gratitude in a realistic and meaningful way. Gratitude does not mean ignoring life’s challenges. It means making space to notice what remains good, helpful, and worth holding onto.

Workshop Delivery & Booking

Our workshops combine guided activities, self-exploration and peer discussion. Content draws on research, relevant training, and our professional and lived experience.

Workshops are available virtually or in person where practical. They are well suited to program participants, staff, volunteers and community groups. Organizations can book an individual workshop, the complete core series or discuss a thoughtful adaptation.

Please note that these workshops support skill development. They are not a form of therapy or counselling.
